The Arnold Foundation Programme at Rugby School
Since 2018, Ysgol Penrhyn Dewi Year 10 pupils have visited Rugby School on their Open Days and have been supported through their application for an Armold Foundation Scholarship. The sole purpose of the Arnold Foundation, which is funded entirely from voluntary donations, is to provide bursaries, subject to means testing, for students in boarding places at Rugby School.
Working in partnership with educational charities Rugby School aims to reach out to boys and girls from some of the country’s most disadvantaged communities, where under-achievement is prevalent.
Amongst the 123 Arnold Foundation students who have benefited to date, there are now accountants, a doctor, a vet, a journalist, actors and artists. Others are studying at or have graduated from Russell Group universities including Oxford and Cambridge. As of September 2017 there were 34 Arnold Foundation students at Rugby who are working hard, preparing for public exams and participating fully in the life Rugby School has to offer. All have emerged as confident and ambitious young people.
